One year gone.
Can you see a difference?
The world judges our significance by our prominence, and if you used that standard against me; there’s nothing much to see. Nothing much has changed. I’m still just a girl wrangling words in her own small, dark corner of an even darker world. I’ve stayed true to the path - a heart surrendered to whatever call might reach through the noise of a groaning world - even if it remains in the shadows.
How we spend our time says a lot about who we are. The choices we make during the long waking hours drives not just our futures, but also sends a message to others about what we value most in life.
There’s no prize for “almost.” No glory in how you pressed forward stumbled step by fumbled step towards a goal you never shared. No badge of honour for late night conversations when you’re healing body and mind craved a rest so deep, but you remember too the awkward walk of teenage life and how mountainous those problems seemed: so you lingered. Another call answered.
The world will praise your weight loss, your new designer bag, heap likes on your latest Selfie, but there’s no reward for the heart to heart moments that unfold in the quiet, soft white lit bedroom of a teen girl also struggling to find her place in this world.
𝐍𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝.
The old wise saying: 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥; 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 grow has been proven so true this last year. Changes have happened. Hearts healed and the body followed. Life unfolded. We’re growing futures here, and it takes a little time.
So I let go of the illusion of What Should Be, and embraced what was happening Now. Suddenly, Success looked different. There’s no fixed point, no seeing of bright light, no estimated time of arrival. Just those daily bumbling steps, an open heart, and the willingness to grab This Moment.
But I also learned no pain is eternal.... a healing journey has many bends and sometimes I cry in the shower. And sometimes I see another rise because I answered the call to be Still. And it’s been such an amazing truth to learn that love can grow out of our most stubborn, toughest parts.
There’s a saying that there’s no shortcuts to any place worth going —— the journey towards Self Love is a most worthy destination.
Feed what you want to grow and give it a little time.
